He whakatauki- 'ka pu te ruha, ka hao te rangatahi.'

The whakatauki or proverb (a saying) above is translated as : The old net is cast to one side, and the new net goes fishing.
A really cool word to learn in Maori is 'rangatahi.' You will hear this word over and over if you learn Maori. Although it means "a new net" it also means young people or future leaders. I suppose in its broadest context it means- future leaders, young people to be given a chance, young people who have the future to look forward to, young people who will be nurtured so that they grow into leaders.
